Complete Tennessee supports the state’s goal to equip 55 percent of the population with a postsecondary degree or credential by 2025.
Establishing an influential education advocacy organization
Tennessee education stakeholders approached Stones River Group in 2016 to help facilitate the development of a new higher education advocacy organization. SRG helped name and brand the new nonprofit as Complete Tennessee, with a mission of supporting the state’s Drive to 55 goal through increased postsecondary attainment and completion.
SRG assisted in developing Complete Tennessee’s governance structure, establishing the organization as a 501(c)3, and successfully facilitating grant applications. Additionally, SRG oversaw the creation of Complete Tennessee’s website and social media channels, crafting the foundational content and messaging to position the nonprofit before state and national audiences. SRG also supported the development of a strategic plan for Complete Tennessee, identifying critical engagement opportunities and helping to position the organization before education influencers and elected officials.
“The work of Complete Tennessee can offer an illuminating case study in what others can do to tackle the college-completion problem.”
– The Atlantic
Since the organization’s launch in late 2016, Stones River Group has provided ongoing strategic communications support to position Complete Tennessee as a higher education thought leader and raise awareness of the organization’s reports and activities. SRG has also worked to elevate Complete Tennessee in the press, pitching stories, crafting op-eds, and arranging interviews with reporters. As a result, Complete Tennessee has quickly garnered broad media attention, with coverage across Tennessee media outlets and articles in national publications such as POLITICO, USA Today, Inside Higher Ed, and The Atlantic.
